The Area Agency on Aging of East Texas

The Area Agency on Aging is a program of the East Texas Council of Governments serving Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt and Wood counties. Services include: Nutrition: Home-delivered meals, congregate meals, and nutritional counseling. In-Home Assistance: Support for homebound elderly who want to be as independent as possible, including housekeeping, domestic chores, personal care, and visitation. Care Coordination: Arrangement and coordination of services for older people in the most efficient, economical way. Transportation: Rides to essential destinations such as nutrition sites, senior centers, doctors' appointments, and grocery shopping and more.

Meals on Wheels of East Texas

Meals on Wheels has served the senior citizens of East Texas since 1973. From its humble beginnings in Tyler, serving 14 people per day, this charitable work has grown tremendously and now reaches six counties and 55 communities daily. Just last year, over 750,000+ meals were served by Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels is a 501 (c) (3) charity.
